Vice President Kamala Harris to Address Asian American Voters at APIAVote’s 2024 Presidential Town Hall in Philadelphia, PA July 13
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – July 10, 2024 – On Saturday, July 13 Vice President Kamala Harris will provide a keynote speech at the Asian and Pacific Islander American Vote (APIAVote) Presidential Town Hall at the Philadelphia Convention Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. A representative from the Trump campaign has also been invited to participate in the town hall separately. Confirmation of their participation is pending.
Since 2008, APIAVote’s Presidential Town Hall has served as a crucial national forum for inviting presidential candidates to engage directly with the AAPI community. By providing a dedicated space for candidates to address AAPI community members, leaders, and organizers face-to-face, the town hall offers one of the rare opportunities for this impactful growing electorate to hear directly from those vying for the nation’s highest office. This event ensures that AAPI issues are brought to the forefront of campaigns and media attention, pushing candidates to address the concerns and priorities that matter most to the AAPI population.
Asian Americans have been a rapidly growing group of eligible voters in the U.S. over the past two decades, growing by 15% in the last four years alone and turning out in record numbers in every federal election since 2016. In 2020, a surge in Asian American voters – especially those voting for the very first time – in battleground states was crucial to President Biden’s victory.
Media must request a credential here by Thursday, July 11 at 6:00 PM ET. Due to limited space, requests for media credentials do not guarantee admittance to the event. Confirmation of credential receipt, as well as media arrival and other logistical details will be shared with approved credential media in advance to the event. The town hall will also be live streamed on APIAVote’s YouTube page.
APIAVote and its partners at AAPI Data, Asian Americans Advancing Justice – AAJC, and AARP released today the findings from their bi-annual Asian American Voter Survey (AAVS), the longest-running survey of Asian American voters. Since 2012, this comprehensive, multilingual survey has revealed what issues matter most to this fastest growing part of the electorate and how those issues are consequential to their voting decisions. A virtual media briefing to review the results is scheduled for Wednesday, July 10 at 1:00 PM ET (RSVP here).
