Presidential Town Hall – Watch Party
Hosting a Watch Party for APIAVote’s 2024 Presidential Town Hall
What is the Presidential Town Hall?
Since 2008, the Presidential Town Hall has served as a crucial national forum for inviting presidential candidates to engage directly with the AAPI community. By providing a dedicated space for candidates to address AAPI community members, leaders, and organizers face-to-face, the town hall offers one of the rare opportunities for this impactful growing electorate to hear directly from those vying for the nation’s highest office. This event ensures that AAPI issues are brought to the forefront of campaigns and media attention, pushing candidates to address the concerns and priorities that matter most to the AAPI population.
This year, the Presidential Town Hall will be held in the Pennsylvania Convention Center- Philadelphia on July 13, 2024 from 1-5pm. We are anticipating a crowd of up to 1800 in attendance for an in-person event.
What do I need to do to host a Watch Party? It’s Simple!
- Sign up as an official Watch Party Host here! This will allow us to update you as it gets closer regarding the timing.
- If you plan on making your Watch Party open to the public, we will seek to get confirmed information about your event so we can publicly list it on our master calendar and direct media to your event. In the meantime, by signing on, you are allowing us to use your organization’s name to update the Presidential campaigns about parties being planned.
- If you plan on making your Watch Party a private event, you will still receive updates by signing up, but we will not request additional confirmation information.
- Find a space to hold your Watch Party!
- Reserve a community center, library, or conference room from a corporation, law firm, or facility that can be donated. You can even host it at someone’s home if that’s easier!
- Equipment needed:
- Large TV or screen with a proper sound system.
- Ability to hook up a laptop and strong wifi or ideally plug directly into the Ethernet. The Town Hall will most likely be streamed to you by our broadcast partner or on APIAVote’s social media platforms.
- The event will be streamed live from APIAVote’s YouTube page and other media partners (TBD). This will be provided at a later date.
- Optional: You can set-up two tables for the local Democratic Party and the Republican Party distribute local materials.
- Consider hosting this as a public event so we can direct reporters who are interested in getting local reactions.
- Invite local mainstream and ethnic press to cover the event and to get reactions as well.
- Use APIAVote’s Promotional Package and Social Media Toolkit to promote your event.
- Refer to our Watch Party Pack for entertainment ideas.
Translations: Please indicate when you sign up if your community will need any translations for the Town Hall. APIAVote is working to broadcast the Town Hall in-language when possible or appropriate. More details to follow.
