Absentee Voting
Voters can only vote absentee in Mississippi with an approved excuse. You may be eligible to vote absentee because of age, health, work, school, or military service. Please check with your circuit or municipal clerk to see if you can vote absentee and learn the procedure. You can request an absentee ballot if you qualify within 45 days of an election.

What to Expect
on Election Day
On Election Day, polls are open from 7 AM to 7 PM.
Voter ID Requirements
You must have a photo ID to vote on Election Day. Any one of the following types of photo IDs may be used on Election Day:
- A driver’s license
- A photo ID card issued by a branch, department, or entity of the State of Mississippi
- A United States passport
- A government employee ID card
- A firearms license
- A student photo ID issued by an accredited Mississippi university, college, or community/junior college
- A United States military ID
- A tribal photo ID
- Any other photo ID issued by any branch, department, agency or entity of the United States government or any State government
- A Mississippi Voter Identification Card

Language Access
Section 203 of the Voting Rights Act requires certain jurisdictions to provide in-language voting materials in areas with a significant number of limited English proficient voters.
Section 208
Section 208 of the Voting Rights Act states that, “Any voter who requires assistance to vote by reason of blindness, disability, or inability to read or write may be given assistance by a person of the voter’s choice, other than the voter’s employer or agent of the employer or office or agent of the voter’s union.”
It is your right to bring your own interpreter to the polls, if you so choose.
